This consolidated archival record brings together case material and institutional documentation previously distributed throughout the Nudist/Naturist Hall of Shame research archive. It places public claims about child safety within organized nudism and naturism alongside an alphabetical documentary record assembled from criminal warrants, guilty pleas, court records, psychiatric evaluations, federal appellate decisions, FBI notices, United States Senate testimony, law-enforcement material, contemporaneous newspaper reporting, organizational publications, private and public correspondence, survivor testimony, documentary clippings, and other primary-source records preserved by Nikki Craft.

The compilation examines documented cases involving child sexual abuse, child sexual exploitation, child pornography, exploitative photography, coercion, sexual offending, organizational screening failures, background-check claims, offender warning systems, the American Sunbathing Association / American Association for Nude Recreation Caution List, institutional knowledge, organizational responses to warnings, the movement of offenders among clubs and camps, retaliation or resistance directed at people who raised concerns, and the use of nudist or naturist rhetoric in legal, cultural, or institutional defenses.

The record begins by placing the case material against public reassurances made by the American Sunbathing Association and its successor, the American Association for Nude Recreation, concerning children’s safety in nudist clubs. It then addresses the absence of this documented subject from the encyclopedic record before presenting the case material alphabetically. The concluding section identifies international and transnational elements, including European publishing networks, contacts in the Netherlands and Low Countries, and examples from outside the United States.

The compilation does not claim that every nudist, naturist, club, camp, organization, offense, or person connected with the movement is represented, nor does it place every person named in the same legal category. Some entries concern convicted offenders; others concern charged or accused individuals, cited authorities, enablers, publishers, photographers, organizational officers, or people whose significance is documentary or institutional rather than criminal. The legal status and documentary framing used in the compilation should be preserved when quoting or indexing individual entries.

REVISION NOTE — AUGUST 28, 2026

This revision substantially expands the Roy and Shirley Settles / Fraternity Snoqualmie material by giving survivor and author Stefin Bradbury a separate, clearly identified first-person section. The new section draws from Bradbury’s 2005 essay “Son-Burned” and records the history of how he found Craft’s earlier article about his own case, contacted her, and wrote the account for publication. It documents his distinction between consenting adult nudity and childhood coercion; his repeated refusal to attend or undress at Fraternity Snoqualmie; the contradiction he experienced between the phrase “clothing optional” and rules or adult demands that prevented him from remaining clothed; his use of the word “SNOOKERED” for his first camp experience; his statement “Looking back, I think we all gave up”; the episode that gave the essay its title; his later description of clothing as a source of freedom and bodily boundaries; his reason for publishing in the hope that readers might act; his adoption and name change at eighteen; and his closing affirmation of the name Stefin Mario Bradbury. The revision also preserves Bradbury’s acknowledgment of Julian Real’s editorial assistance and identifies Nikki Craft’s present-day recollection of trust, rapport, and a shared sense that the publication process had been handled correctly, while clearly separating that memory from the documentary details in Bradbury’s surviving essay.

FIRST-PERSON SURVIVOR MATERIAL — STEFIN BRADBURY

The current revision gives Stefin Bradbury a separate survivor section immediately following the Roy and Shirley Settles entry. Bradbury identifies himself as the son whose abuse was prosecuted in the Settles case and states that the abuse began when he was five and continued until he was fifteen and a half. At age thirty-three, seventeen years after sentencing, he searched online in hopes of finding his abusers’ obituaries and instead found Nikki Craft’s article about his own case. Craft had invited the unidentified victim to write about his experiences. Bradbury contacted her with the question, “What do you want to know?” and wrote that Craft invited him to write about everything if he felt comfortable doing so.

Bradbury’s account describes his first refusal to attend Fraternity Snoqualmie, his later arrival there after that refusal, his repeated statements that he wanted to go home and did not want to undress, and adult demands that he remove his clothes. He called the first experience “SNOOKERED.” He describes being told that the park was clothing optional while also being prevented from wearing a bathing suit in the pool and encountering other rules or adult demands requiring nudity. After repeated attempts to remain clothed were overridden, he wrote, “Looking back, I think we all gave up.”

His account explicitly distinguishes consenting adult nudity from what happens when children are involved. He states that the abuse occurred both at his father and stepmother’s apartment and at the nudist park, and that in his childhood experience the abuse and nudism became inseparable. He describes clothing, contrary to nudist ideology, as a source of freedom and boundary for him. He also explains that writing the essay was exceptionally difficult, that an early draft focused too much on physical events and not enough on emotional consequences, and that his hope in publishing was that a reader might take action.

At eighteen, with his mother’s blessing, Bradbury was adopted by his stepfather Raymond Harold Bradbury and changed his name. His essay ends by affirming his chosen identity: “My name is Stefin Mario Bradbury.” He thanked Julian Real for professionalism and expertise in helping edit the article. Craft’s present recollection of the publication process is of substantial trust and rapport and a shared sense that they had handled the story correctly; because she does not remember the specific conversations after more than twenty years, that recollection is presented as memory rather than reconstructed dialogue.
